Call for special issue proposals

Hungarian Review of Sociology is calling for guest editors for thematic issues or thematic blocks. Authors may submit manuscripts for the thematic issue/section either through the guest editors on an invitation basis, or the editorial board will also announce a public call for papers for the special issue. In both cases, the studies must undergo a double-blind review process prior to publication. The editorial board reserves the right to reject studies and to request revisions to manuscripts based on the reviews; furthermore, depending on the number of articles accepted, it reserves the right to publish an entire thematic issue or block. The planned publication date of the special issue/block is the fourth quarter of 2027.

The application must include the following:

  • Title of the issue
  • Name(s) and affiliation(s) of guest editor(s)
  • Description of the planned theoretical and methodological framework and content of the issue: 300-500 words + bibliography
  • If applicable: planned authors
  • If applicable: research or research group whose results would be presented in the thematic issue
  • Planned language of the studies: English / Hungarian / mixed

Deadline: November 15, 2026.

Applicants will be notified of the editorial decision by December 15.

If the application is successful, the deadline for submitting articles for the thematic issue is April 30, 2027.
